The study is conducted in the Houndé health district in Burkina Faso and the Bougouni district in Mali.

Le site du Burkina Faso est le district sanitaire de Houndé, situé à environ 100 km de Bobo-Dioulasso, où se trouve la base régionale de l’Institut de Recherche en Sciences de la Santé. Les cas de paludisme simple sont pris en charge dans les centres de santé du district, tandis que les cas graves sont référés vers l’hôpital de district ou les structures de référence.

Le site du Mali est situé dans le district de Bougouni, dans la région de Sikasso, à environ 150 km au sud de Bamako, où se trouve le Malaria Research and Training Centre. La transmission du paludisme y est également saisonnière, avec une prise en charge au niveau communautaire et dans les structures sanitaires.
